SUSTAINABLE LIFESTYLE
Sustainability!
Sounds like a very big word, no?? Every time this word is said, the instant
instinct is to think of big ideas, big movements and whatnot. But in reality,
small steps in day to day life can make a huge impact in the world of
sustainability. We all know how important it is for each one of us to change
certain habits and the lifestyle we are practicing to have a livable planet
tomorrow. The century of environmental thievery needs to end. End now. I don't
want my child to grow up in a world that's full off diseases, pollution, and
garbage. Do you? I am sure, not. Our small changes today can make a big
difference tomorrow.
Plastic Disposal
Plastic
never goes away. Don't throw away your plastics. Collect them. It will only
take up one small corner in your big house. You can afford that much. Donate
them to the companies that recycle plastic. I use UZED for it. No hustle, No
worries. You can also buy gift cards from the points that you get when giving
away your scrap. Both hands in chocolate kinda situation.
Kitchen Waste
Use
your kitchen waste. No! don't throw it. Your waste is your responsibility, no
one else’s. Take a pot and make compost in your home. Use it for your plants
and also save yourself of the extra money you spend to purchase fertilizers for
your plants. If you don’t have plants, buy one today.
Use Water Smartly
Collect
the water your purifier disposes of as wastewater. In the world of RO's
everywhere, a lot of water is just flushed down the kitchen trap. Collect this
water instead and use it for your household chores. Putting a bucket under your
purifier is not as difficult as it may sound. Use this water for cleaning and
watering your plants. The world will thank you later.
Shopping- Yes!! Shopping Bags- NOOO!!
STOP!!
Absolutely stop the use of plastic bags. Use the same cloth bag for bringing
your groceries every time. Now you will say, I purchase a cloth bag for 20 INR
every time I visit the supermarket. That makes it worse. The concept behind
these bags is of reusing and not buying a new one every time. Carry your burlap
bag every time you out shopping. Keep one bag in your office purse permanently
to avoid yourself from purchasing bags for the brought this on my way to home
situations.
Washing Time
The
constant urge to wash clothes for a clutter-free utility is understandable. But
No! Don’t bow down before of such desires. Decrease your washing time by only
washing clothes when they are sufficient enough to fill your tub. Never before
that! This will help you save both water and electricity.
The depletion is real and its impact is devastating. EACH
DROP COUNTS!! Because everyone once thought, what difference will my one
plastic make, we ended up landing in this situation we today are in. If today
everyone takes their micro-steps, think of the collective impact it will have
on the planet.
