Temples, Trees & Timelessness : PAURI, GARHWAL

Image
If you crave an immersive mountain trip, this is your cue to travel to Pauri. Travel 120 Km from Rishikesh, and land into stunning natural landscapes to experience Uttarakhand at a deeper level than just sightseeing.  Our Journey We travelled from Rishikesh to Pauri via Devprayag , soaking in the confluence of rivers and the winding mountain roads. On our return, thanks to suggestions from our amazing hosts, we took the Khirsu-Devalgarh-Dhara Devi route — a ride we'll always remember for its beauty and serenity.  Places to Immerse Yourself in Once you reach Pauri, the possibilities are endless — but remember, the town shuts down early (around 8 p.m.) because of frequent leopard sightings, limited commercial activity, and its low population density. Plan your days well! Kandoliya Temple A short climb through dense forests leads you to this humble pink-orange temple, crowned by a massive, ancient tree. The gentle ringing of bells along the stairs adds a mystical feel to th...

Not a hidden Gem, but DEFINITELY a Gem

Image
The itinerary and suggestions of places to visit in Goa is endless. One google search gives you a never-ending list. One scroll on Instagram, and you’ll get hundreds of reels about the hidden gems in goa, the ‘you can’t miss this when in Goa’ and what not. This blog is not about any hidden gem but a documentation of an amazing day we spent in Goa, not very Goan style. An overview of the space and the various activities Coba de Rama is a beach fort on a hilltop in South Goa, that offers majestic views, stunning panoramas, and an amazing environment to channel your travel enthusiasm. The fort has a beautiful church contained in it, which is now unfortunately closed, so you can only admire it from outside. St. Anteony Church from the fort walls A stepped rocky way from the fort leads you to the beach downstairs. The beach extends on the right leading to pebble beach.  This 200 m stretch is what we enjoyed the most- it’s a rocky way along the glistening ocean, amazing to walk (rat...

A HEALTHY DUSTBIN

Image
These are the headlines we often come across, the topic we often rage about. What is the government doing? People are dying but the corporation is sleeping? India can never change, it’ll always remain the same? By now, probably we all know what a garbage dump yard does to the city- air pollution, water contamination, leeching and the list goes on. The residents living near these landfills are the worst affected but are these the only ones affected? Certainly not.   Yes! Somehow the government is miserably failing in managing this issue in our country, but so are we. What are we doing about it? Cribbing? Outraging? and criticizing? But is that enough? Are we helping? Are we doing our bit? The answer is probably a big NO. The waste that we generate is our responsibility and we are to blame as much as the government. Through this article, I want to share the idea of managing our waste and making our dustbins “healthy”. The waste that goes down the garbage chute from our ho...

LOST AND FOUND

Image
We lost and we found. Lost our worries, stress and anger; found for ourselves- peace, contentment and inspiration. Inspiration to live a life with more meaning, true happiness and less materialism. It is amusing how the mountains around made every breath feel better and greater. Our recent visit to Manali, Himachal Pradesh left a huge impact on us and only for good. Every moment of the trip was worth cherishing and gave us learnings to remember for life.  The scenic beauty "Waoo!! See!! Look here!! Look there!! See this!! See that there! It's so beautiful! I am awestruck! It's breathtaking! I wish that was my house! I want to live there! Look at that, it's so alluring!!", are a few lines that I said or heard almost every second. Every nook and corner had only beauty to witness. It was not just a visual treat but the mountains were talking  to the soul. Every second the heart wanted to stop and absorb it all - the mountains, the fresh breeze, the shining sun an...

BACHELOR'S GUIDE FOR THEIR PLANT PARADISE

Image
Plants? Garden? Responsibility? Care? Don't really fit in a bachelor's house, isn't it. At least that's what we all think. "I like plants but obviously I can't have them here- it's a bachelors pad.", I was told by a friend. Why not? I wanted to say, but chose otherwise. Plants in house can give you the peace you will never know about till you have one. They re the perfect "to go place" for all moods. To have a companion on bad office days, to have a cheering element on gloomy days, pot yours today. No day is better than today to get started. So gear up, and thank us later. But how? Potatoes are one of the easiest plants to start with from your kitchen and don't even require a lot of care. They sit so beautifully in the balcony and their dense foliage is a treat to watch. Their flowers are so pretty that you will wish to see them at all times once you have it. So I suggest everyone to start with planting a potato and then slowly an...
